…cabaret…….

I pulled up from the basement a very old lamp, removed the shade to give the bare light bulb look to give the mood of an overhead bare light bulb.  And I left the drapey backdrop visible to further add to the mood of the shot.

This was taken in my pale livingroom.

No time to take pictures this week. Very busy with work. I just love taking photos, playing with them, and printing them.  And I miss it when I can’t.   Finally yesterday, I was able to take some time to put this together.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Used one SB800 Flash in a shoot through umbrella, triggered by D700, camera right.

…lady….turn of the century…………..

_JAS5274-2WEB-Jane-in-turn-of-century-set-up

This was my Boxing Day playing.  Set up to look like turn of the century, with pattern upon pattern layered and deep rich colors.

This was taken in my soft colored livingroom, with things brought in from around the house.  The rug is from the entrance, the flowers from the bedroom.  The chair is a diningroom chair and the background is fabric that I clipped to my livingroom drapes.

The hat is a faux sable mink winter hat, jacket is a Max Mara business jacket, shoes are summer shoes of lacey leather, which I thought worked well with the jacket colors and the look of the era.  Leather gloves. The skirt is a very old skirt that I made 15 years ago.  I originally put a piece of luggage in the frame but it became too busy.

Lighting did not work out as well as my previous set up.  I am not sure why.  I moved it around, went from one to two umbrellas, and still was not completely satisfied. Perhaps it was so much burgundy surrounding me.  This one had to be processed, whereas the previous was very little processing.

I am thinking of doing the 70s next.

…lady in a black tulle hat………

Made my first ever crockpot stew yesterday. Received the crockpot from my Mom last year, so it was fitting to give it a go before Christmas this year.  A bit too watery, but incredibly good.

Yesterday afternoon was my time for play, so I put together this set up for a photo session.  One umbrella, one SB800 flash, camera right.  Black background.  This is processed only a little, as the lighting turned out quite well.

The set up: Hat, is the same hat from another shoot.  However, I placed some black tulle loosely around it to give it a completely new look.  The feathers, is a fascinator, i.e. headband with feathers, that I put around it.  The necklace is a Myriam Haskell necklace, (love her gorgeous pearl work).  The gloves are from a Halloween shop for $6.  The dress –  is really a camisole, with a Betsey Johnson scarf placed over it, to look like a dress.

…1920s……..

This was set up  to have a 1920s feel, with the dress, necklace and shape of the hat.

Boucle wanted to be in all the shots.  He sat beside me on the sofa the whole time.  So, he ended up in them all. And this one was the gem of Boucle.  This was the last shot I took, and you can see how Boucle felt about it.  Not exactly chasing squirrels.:)

…it’s all about the light………..

I envisioned almost spotlight lighting on me,  with lots of surrounding black, using flash,  and I am happy with the results.

This was an experiment  and I used black backgrounds, a black chair for the set up.  And two flash umbrellas camera right.

…a new hat……..

I went shopping yesterday afternoon.  Haven’t been to the big mall since the spring.  All sorts of new shops opening, like Tiffany’s .  A new Stuart Weitzman shoe shop, fabulous patent leather shoes – shoe candy!

Please excuse the missing casings etc…undergoing some house renovations that have been in progress for a while.

This is a new hat that I purchased yesterday.  Love leopard. And look at Boucle, he had to be in the shot.  What a sweetie-pie.
